Brief

Create a set of drop caps to be used in ‘Garden for All’, an Epigram publication on the Botanic Gardens.

Details

LOTUS is a set of drop caps, or a display typeface. It borrows elements from Peranakan tiles, such as the flowers and ornate borders, simplifying and incorporating them into the typeface. The base serif typeface is an original design, made from scratch. I chose to make it a serif typeface, in line with the traditional nature of Peranakan tiles.
